Back to the Cyclades

The Island of Milos and the pretty fishing village of Klima

Friday 10th September Monemvasia to Milos

With little set expectation we arrived into Milos the most south western island of the Cyclades. Well first impressions as we sailed in past the pretty boat houses of Klima with the white washed buildings of Plaka above was definitely impressive.

We soon discovered by the number of scooters and atvs on the road that the less attire the better, helmets didn’t serve a purpose except perhaps as an ornament from one’s elbow and the beaches were the top destination of each day.

We took a day out to tour around the island learning that even a Honda Civic can be too big on some of the roads of Milos. A great anchorage and another of those places we would be happy to go back to and further explore.

OHamas Restaurant a proud family traditional restaurant

In Milos we dined at the recommended restaurant where we were thankful we had made a reservation. The time for a table was incredibly long as the evening progressed but patrons seemed unperturbed happy to sit at the convenient beach bar across the road. Clever crowd management on the restaurants behalf.

We also caught up with Maria and her husband Giorgos who were once again keen to share the local Loukamades a honey covered donut ball being the best description we can manage.

The Anchorage Despotiko Bay

Wednesday 14th September Milos to Despotiko Bay south of Antiparos

A beautiful anchorage overnight in between the two islands of Antiparos and Despotiko. The water was an amazing crystal clear blue. Could have happily stayed here for a day or two.
